CIMAFUNK
Named by Billboard as a “Top 10 Latin Artist to watch,” Cimafunk is by far one of the most exciting new faces in the Latin music space. The young Cuban superstar, a singer, composer, and producer, provides a daring fusion of funk with Cuban music and African rhythms.
Cimafunk is reinventing modern Cuban music as well as Afro-Latin identity and the blending of Black cultures by bringing out the best in Cuban rhythms and traditions and fusing sounds and styles from Africa and the U.S. Cimafunk has already appeared at the Glastonbury Music Festival and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival this year alone.
THE SHAKES and MWESO
Mwenso and the Shakes are a distinctive group of international performers based in Harlem. Immigrants from Sierra Leone, London, South Africa, Greenwich Village, Madagascar, France, Jamaica, and Hawaii, they take from the stylings of Fats Waller, Muddy Waters, James Brown, and many other American musical legends. The New York Times describes Michael Mwenso's electric show as "intense, predatory, and exuberant."
TRIO DELVON LAMARR ORGAN
The 1960s organ jazz stylings of Jimmy Smith and Baby Face Willette; a dash of Booker T. Jones' snappy soul swagger; and a generous helping of Booker T. Jones' 1960s organ jazz stylings all come together in the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, or DLO3 as it is frequently known. Additionally, there are elements of Jimi Hendrix-style guitar, Stax Records, The Meters, & The M.G.s, and Motown.
It’s a soul-jazz mixture that goes straight to the heart and head and makes the body break out in a sweat. On their summer tour, the band is now serving as the opening act for Jack White and The Black Crowes.
GROOVE ORCHESTRA
Samuel Prather, a multi-instrumentalist who was raised in Washington, D.C., is the leader of Groove Orchestra. He has earned a reputation for working with and producing bands in a variety of genres, including Jazz, Funk, Gospel, Brazilian, Latin, Soul, and R&B. To mention a few, he has collaborated with Bennie Maupin, Hugh Masekela, Cyrus Chestnut, Raul Midon, Fred Yonnet, and Cyrus Chestnut.
